Arnoldo "Nono" Hinojosa
January 17, 1944 — March 14, 2017
Arnoldo Rene "Nono" Hinojosa, 73, was called by the Lord on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Arnoldo served his country honorably and with distinction during the Vietnam War. After 30 years of working for the Texas-Mexican Railroad Arnoldo retired and throughout his life was an avid sportsman who for many years coached junior, senior and big league baseball and spent much time volunteering for the Border Olympics. He also took great delight in the outdoors and spending time at his ranch and working with his hands. Certainly Arnoldo will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon David & Consuelo Hinojosa and his siblings: Homero Alberto Hinojosa, Pedro G. Hinojosa, and Esther E. Treviño.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Elisa Gamez Hinojosa, children: Julie Ann, Linda Veronica, and Homero Alberto Hinojosa, Lissa E. (Adrian) Perez, Arnoldo Rene (Sheryl) Hinojosa Jr, Manuel David ( Zindy) Hinojosa, and Connie Elizabeth Hinojosa, siblings: Ramon David (+Gloria) Hinojosa of Falfurias, TX, Irma (+Elijio) Uresti of San Diego, TX, Adriana (Jorge) Gomez of Carrolton, TX, and Florinda (+Pedro G) Hinojosa, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving guests on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 5pm to 9pm where a vigil of the deceased will commence at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00am. Military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Air Force will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery's veterans section. Pallbearers will be: Arnoldo Rene Hinojosa, Manuel David Hinojosa, R.D. Hinojosa, Humberto Hinojosa, Peter Hinojosa, Adrian Uresti, Jesus R. Garcia, Eduardo Mendoza, and Feliciano Gamez III. Honorary pallbearers will be Homero Alberto Hinojosa and Cesar Uresti.
Funeral services are under the arrangements of Gámez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1029 Bob Bullock Loop, Laredo, Texas 78043.
