Dolores “Lola” Salazar touched the lives of thousands of children in her forty-two years as a teacher in the Laredo Independent School District. After receiving her degree from Texas A&M Kingsville, she returned home to Laredo to share her love of learning. She could frequently be seen walking to her job at the local elementary school, Santo Niño. A kind and creative person, she went above and beyond for her students creating countless plays, parade props, and costumes for the children of “Santo Baby” Elementary.
She rejoined her parents, Pablo and Enriqueta Salazar and siblings: Bertha, Pablo and Rodelio Salazar, in Heaven on October 18, 2017.
Dolores is survived by her son James (Christina) Kaiser, her grandchildren: Christopher Kaiser and Amanda (Patrick) Lopez, great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Joshua Lopez, sisters-in-law: Domitila and Candelaria Salazar, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and great-great nieces/nephews.
Guests may pay their respects on Sunday, October 22, 2017 beginning at 5:00pm at Gámez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services (1029 Bob Bullock Loop Laredo, Texas 78043). A Rosary will be recited on her behalf at 7:00pm
Born in Aguilares, Texas, her final resting place will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Monday, October 23, 2017, following a funeral mass at Christ the King Church (1105 Tilden Ave. Laredo, Texas 78040) at 10:00am. She will be carried to her resting place by her grandsons: Christopher Kaiser and Patrick Lopez and nephews: Manuel Zapata, Juan Treviño, Jorge, Pablo Jr., Hector, and Ernesto Salazar.
