Gloria Dickinson De Lara

On the 18th of December 2018, Gloria Dickinson De Lara was called by our Lord to eternal rest, joining her parents, John and Velia Dickinson and sister, Mary Ann.

Mrs. De Lara was born on 28 June 1933 at the home of her grandparents on Grant Street in Laredo, Texas. Her schooling started at Mrs. Ellis’ Private School and Ursuline Academy of Laredo, in between school years attending the American School Foundation in Mexico City. She graduated high school from Ursuline with the class of 1952. She later attended Mexico City College and also completed a nurses training program at Mercy Hospital in Laredo. She had a long career working as accounting technician and secretary in her father’s CPA firm. Mrs. De Lara was a devout Catholic who was kind-hearted and caring, serving our Lord to the best of her ability. For many years, she was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Mrs. De Lara is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Johnston and Diana Lee Crawford, who were the loving center of her life. She is also survived by her brothers John Y. Dickinson III (Joyce) and Paul R. Dickinson (Daphne); her grandson John R. Johnston (Margie); great-granddaughter Nina and great-grandson Ian; and nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. The family offers special thanks to Mrs. De Lara’s care-giver and friend of 14 years, Andreita.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 22, 2018, from the funeral home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be: John Y. Dickinson III, Paul R. Dickinson, John R. Johnston, Juan G. Sanchez, Feliciano Gamez IV, Frank De Los Santos. A cremation will be held at a later date.
