Irene Fernandez

Irene Fernandez, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 in Laredo, Texas.

Our mother was selfless, giving, full of love and laughter. The Neocatechumenal was a major part of her life and she devoted her life to teaching us her knowledge and to love God as he loves us. She brought us all together with her love and warmth, and that’s what we’ll cherish the most.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paulino Fernandez Sr. and Mariana Fernandez; husband, Julian Robles; son, Vicente Paulino Robles; siblings, Maria de la Luz Bishop, Paulino Fernandez Jr., Vicente Regulo Fernandez, and Mateo Fernandez; nephew, Hector Fernandez; niece, Leticia de la Garza; brother-in-law, Hartmut “Hatti” Wieden.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Maria Guadalupe (Fortunato) Alvarez Jr., Annabel (Hugo) Lara, and Javier V. (Jamie) Robles; sisters, Maria de Jesus (Guillermo) de la Garza, Maria Dolores (Joaquin) Vasquez, and Eli Neli Wieden. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held immediately after to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Javier Robles, Isaac Alvarez, Pablo Muriel, Tony Lara, Victor Fernandez, Vicente Robles, Luis Robles, and Michael Robles.

Funeral services are under the arrangement of Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1029 Bob Bullock Loop, Laredo, Texas 78043.
