Jose Herrera

Jose Maria "Chema" Herrera, 56, was called by the Lord on August 17. 2015.

Born on August 26, 1958, in Laredo, TX, he attended Martin High school and worked as a food service truck driver for LISD for 26 yrs. Jose was a loving husband, devoted father to his daughters and a great papa to his grandchildren. Always very happy and outgoing, he would make people laugh no matter the situation, and there was never a dull moment around "Chema," as he was better known by many of his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and San Juana Herrera and siblings: Gilberto and Juan Herrera Jr. and sister, Gloria Salazar.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 37 years, Margarita Herrera, daughters: Norma Lee, Yassmine Kassandra, Margie and Erica Yvette (Dometilo) De la Cruz, sons: Jose Maria Jr. and Juan Gilberto Herrera, 4 grandchildren, brothers: David (Rosa), Antonio (Dolores) and Armando (Melissa) Herrera, sister, Rosalinda (Pedro) Sanchez, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family received guest on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 5pm to 9pm at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, where a rosary was recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 22, 2015, from the funeral home to Christ the King Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am. Interment will follow immediately at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
