Jose Mata

Jose Mata, 85, was called by the Lord on February 7, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Narciso & Tomasa Mata; children, Jesus Mata, Alfredo Mata; siblings, Estefana Martinez, Julio Mata, Gumercindo Mata, Esteban Mata, Rodolfo Mata, Juanita Mata, Guadalupe Manuel Mata, Virginia Peña, Maria de la Luz Mata, numerous other relatives and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Juanita Ramona Mata; children, Jose Juan Mata, Martin Mata, Alberto Mata, Maria Cristina Mata, David Mata, Esmeralda Schoonveld, Marisela (Jose Reynaldo) Perez III, Elsa (Alejandro) Ortegon, Jorge Mata, Ernesto (Brenda) Mata, Alexandro (Stephanie) Mata; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, numerous other family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearer: Jose Juan Mata.

Pallbearers: Alberto Mata, Jorge Mata, Ernesto Mata, Alexandro Mata, Marco Alejandro Cuevas, John Ortegon, Paul Ortegon, Alejandro Ortengon.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gamez and Sons Funeral Home & Cremation Services where a rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021, from the funeral home to St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Procession departs at 8:30 a.m. Funeral home opens at 7:00 a.m.

Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In accordance with city ordinance, the number of visitors will be limited to 50 percent occupancy capacity. Please feel free to wait in your vehicle for a turn if funeral home reaches capacity. All visitors must wear a face mask before entering the building and use hand sanitizer provided upon entry. Visitors must provide their own face covering.  Anyone that is knowingly sick or has upper respiratory illness is asked to stay home and may be denied entry.
