Maria Mendez

Maria Imelda Mendez, 87, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 18, 2018.

Imelda was born in Laredo, Texas on August 15, 1930 and had been a lifelong resident of Laredo. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister and aunt. Imelda lived her life following god’s laws, caring for her pets and working on her puzzles. All who knew her will remember her for her warm, caring and loving demeanor.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joaquin S. Mendez and Isabel S. Mendez. Her Mother Maria Refugio Perez Mendez, sister Ludivina Mendez Vallejo, Brother Jose Higinio Mendez and sister-in-law Angelina Cazares Mendez.

Imelda is survived by her brother-in-law Raul Vallejo, nieces and nephews, Yvonne Vallejo-Montoya(Stan), Ricardo Vallejo(Betsy) from Sacramento, California, Sylvia Mendez-Morse(Jerry), Mario A. Mendez(Linda), Cynthia Rebecca Mendez and Sandra Mendez Cedillo(Fortunato) from San Antonio, Texas and various cousins in Laredo, San Antonio and  New York.

The family will be receiving guests on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gamez & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services where a rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 29, 2018, from the funeral home to San Agustin Cathedral where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver Aurelia Tavera and The Texas Providers Agency, and would also like to give a special thanks to her dear friends Juan Esparza, Senior Antonio, and Guadalupe Rodriguez.
