Maryanne Hamilton, 74 of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. She was born on August 3, 1950 to Anna (Smith) and William Sokoloski of Buhl, Minnesota. With four siblings, Ted, Rose, Alex and Stanley, Maryanne was the youngest.
Maryanne worked in nursing and was a caregiver for generations of family members. She was well loved by all for her warm heart and easy smile. She enjoyed drawing, painting, cooking, collecting, driving, gardening and her animals. She was a bread maker who made amazing cinnamon rolls. Maryanne enjoyed traveling, movies and listening to music especially by Elvis Presley and George Strait. She was a free spirit who liked to do things her own way.
Maryanne is survived by her beloved children: Betty Yugo (Hnatko), Chrystal Thompson (Hamilton), Renee Hamilton and Lawrence Hamilton. Her son-in-law is Joe Yugo. She raised Chrystal, Renee and Lawrence with her former husband Jay Hamilton. She also raised Monique Smith (Christians) and Kris Christians with former husband Rolland Christians. She raised and dearly loved her grandchildren: Joey Thompson, Lea Thompson, and Jayden Hamilton. Maryanne is preceded in death by her parents and husband James Hnatko.
Services and celebrations of life are being held in Los Lunas, New Mexico the weekend before Christmas and in Buhl, Minnesota, at a date to be announced in summer of 2025. Her ashes are to be interned in Buhl, Minnesota next to her beloved parents.
