- Richard L. Palacios, 73, has sailed away on his final journey in the presence of his beloved family by his side on Saturday, February 22, 2025. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 8, 1951, the son of the late Estevan and Tomasita Palacios. He was raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he enlisted in the US Navy at age 18, serving during the Vietnam War. He returned to live in San Antonio, until he came to visit to Laredo, where he met the love of his life, Hortencia Salas. Together they made a long lasting marriage of 49 years.
- He is preceded in death by his parents Estevan and Tomasita Palacios; sister: Mary Alice Rios; father and mother-in-law: Basilio and Maria Salas; nephews: Gabriel and Gerardo Medino; brother in law: Basilio Salas Jr.
- Suriving him are his beloved wife of 49 years of marriage: Hortensia S. Palacios; children: Judy J. de Leon, Jaimie Lee (Juan Carlos) Ramirez, Richard (Jackie) Palacios Jr.; grandchildren: Jasmine, Katelyn, and Vanessa Palacios, Jovana, Abigail, Juan Carlos, Adrian, and Ayanna Ramirez, Lazaro de Leon Jr. and Hayley de Leon; siblings: Rebecca (Randal) Ramos, Emeldo Palacios, Robert (Shelly) Palacios, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
- The family will gather on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5 to 9 pm at Gamez and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, where a Rosary will be offered at 7 pm.
- Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 7 am until 9:30 am, where the procession will depart to San Vicente de Paul Catholic Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am by Rev. Fr. Salomon Rodriguez Rico, O.S.A.
- Rite of Committal and Interment will Military Honors being rendered by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy Honor Guard will be rendered at Heros Hall in the Laredo City Cemetery.
